Meet the Designer: Joshua Darling
Joshua attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a focus on Visual Presentation & Exhibition Design. He has worked at and supervised teams at fashion shows, and entertainment events. He’s designed high-end store fronts, styled mannequins for balls, and designed and decorated Macy’s Corporate Offices, Radio City Music Hall, and Saks 5th Ave., just to name a few.
Joshua’s private collection of Hamberger featured animatorinic figures displayed at this event, have a history spanning 99 years. He has built his collection over the past 11 years, and is always seeking out more rare pieces. In most cases, Joshua must restore these pieces to their original look and function.
The Hamberger Factory was founded in 1922 and produced mechanized characters. Hambergers animated displays are a nostalgic reminder of days gone by when children stood in front of department store windows to watch magical figures bring the holiday season alive. Today, Hamberger displays and figures are still sought after by collectors around the world.
Joshua is thrilled to have his collection seen by a new generation. He hopes to bring joy to those who reminisce of holidays past.
